Another fabulous week at Mc&T HQ and it’s safe to safe that our evening at the ballet turned a little bit grimey…
That’s right, our client BOXPARK Wembley teamed up with creative events experts GLUG London to create a world-first event exploring the fusion of grime and contemporary dance on 30th January. Grime Ballet featured the debut performance of ‘London Sketchbook’, a collaborative dance piece curated by leading female grime MC and artist, Lioness, and world-class choreographer Alex Whitley.
The event also allowed you to expand your Grime education with a panel discussing the future of the music genre in the UK. The panel featured Reprezent Radio presenter C Cane, Roll Deep’s Manga Saint Hilare, urban street photographer Ellie Ramsden, Girls of Grime founder Shakira Walters, TRENCH Executive Editor Laura ‘Hyperfrank’ Brosnan and CEO/Artistic Director at the Scottish Ballet, Christopher Hampson.
The track used in the performance was produced by the Nat Powers, who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Run DMC, Giggs and most recently D Double E. Instrumentals were provided by The Grime Violinist.
I think you can agree, that may have been one of the coolest events of the year and it was only January (that being said, January is less of a month and more of a year, amirite?!)
Ch-ch-check out some of the coverage we secured for this amazing event:
Mc&T also got a shout out in PR Week about our PR account win of Aqipa. Agency boss Paul McEntee said he wanted to help “audio fans fall in love with the historic household brands.”
