Ah, yes. The great working from home experiment that Corona has suddenly set off is now in full swing and like many of you, Mc&T are finding ways to keep ourselves active during this time of social distancing. Whilst it is business as usual for the team, the locations and routines have certainly changed – as they have for all of us. Below are some of the ways in which we have adapted as a team to maintain a positive mental attitude. Whoop!
Meetings and catch-ups
We catch up as an agency via group chat every morning and are encouraged to do that with our coworkers and clients throughout the day. Checking in and making sure we have various engagements with each other helps us feel more connected in these disconnected times.
This also makes sure we avoid the “shirt over Pj bottoms” – THE trend of this Spring/Summer’s Fashion Season – from occurring more than it should. *Ahem*
Regular breaks away from the screen including physical exercise have been strongly supported and encouraged. We’ve even started sharing on the ol’ group chat our latest workout links – although some of us have had to make changes to their current routine so that they can do it at home to stay tip top shape.
Even Ralph, our PR pup is getting in on the action and is halfway to becoming a Yogi (A Dogi)
To help keep our minds in a calm, creative and positive state we have been practicing meditation. Some do it as a group and others do it on their own via an app. Even though the pace of life has physically slowed down, it doesn’t mean that our minds have, so this is a great time during our days that we try to rest, recharge and replenish our psyches.
QUOGA – Quarantine Yoga – see what we did there?
We have also been practicing digital remote yoga – and yes, it’s new to us as well. It’s a lovely time of the week where we all get together in the afternoons and have a video yoga session with Yogi Samara Haddow. It really helps stretch the body out, and is especially useful to those of us living in flats where there may not be much room to move around in.
Top Tip: Turn off the video if you don’t want people to see you fall over between poses though…
Helping The Community
A few of us, where able, have also been helping their local community and joining local response groups such as delivering food to the vulnerable. The NHS has also recently opened up volunteering for anyone who wishes to support where they can.
Taking Time for yourselves
We are allowed to relax during this strange time, and some of us have taken to reading in outside spaces or by windows to try and cut off from the world and catch some sneaky rays of vitamin D when possible. There have even been discussions of a book club – recommendations of reading material welcome!
So what have you been doing to keep yourselves in a positive mindset? Let us know on our social channels
